You just need to print them in animal skin tones and add on a wall sticker to reveal what kind of animal it is, and top it up with a promotional sticker of "Sunway Petting Zoo - Experience the Real Thing" - that should deliver the message.

You Are Not Alone!

This is actually a team project, so kudos to Syafiq and Cactus.

The brief is to create a campaign on a movie - Shutter. It's an eerie horror movie on a girl who suffered a horrible death and seeks her restless spirit tends to appear in photographs. So to give the general audience a teaser for this movie, playing around with the tagline "You Are Not Alone".

One of our strategy was to create a newspaper fake jacket with the 'girl' appearing subtly in the press pictures with the news title "You Are Not Alone"(don't worry it's all just a mock). And below the page, we've also placed a quarter-banner promoting the movie and its release date.

Our second strategy was to place a poster of 'her' on the ceiling of shopping complex elevators/lifts accompanied with the poster "You Are Not Alone... Look Up!" and a brief introduction on the movie and its release date printed subtly below the poster. This way, the audience can kind of "experience" part of the movie.

And finally, we came out with the idea of hiring a photographer to take free Polaroid pictures of the general public - and on the picture there will be an overlay of 'her' standing near you - if you turn the picture around, it will show the tagline "You Are Not Alone" - and what's more is that if you present this picture while purchasing the movie ticket for this movie, you get to receive 20% off on your second purchase.

Christmas Trinkets in a Paperbag!

It's Christmas! ... and I was given a paperbag packaging exercise with a free title - as long as it is promoting a niche product. So I've decided to design a paperbag design for Christmas ornaments - gave it a brand called "Trinkets" because it means precious jewels/ornaments - and topped it up with a snowflake logo.

I also came out with a concept of Christmas ornaments that tell stories where the ornaments will shape like characters and icons from famous Christmas stories so that family and friends can share a Christmas tale together while decorating a Christmas tree. Thus, I chose two famous stories with distinctive characters - Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman - one themed with warm colour of shades of red and the other themed with a cool colour with shades of blue and green. Christmas does consist of alot of mixture of reds and greens anyway. I hope you like them!

Go Hybrid!

This is an advertising campaign with the aim to promote hybrid technology to the general public. Just a brief intro - hybrid technology uses gasoline and battery to get your car running instead of fuel. I decided to focus on its 3 main benefits - it reduces 90% of smog produced from the exhaust, it powers up the car's acceleration and it massively reduces fuel consumption.

To execute this, I positioned cars as characters to bring out the three messages. The first poster consists of a car saying, "Cough, I feel sick!" accompanied with the line "Hybrid cars produces 90% less smog. Go hybrid!". The second poster consists of a car saying, "Sigh, I'm tired!" accompanied with the line "Hybrid cars accelerate better. Go hybrid!" and finally the third poster consists of a car saying, "Growl, I'm hungry!" accompanied with the line "Hybrid car uses less fuel. Go hybrid!".

As for this campaign's outdoor media, I proposed peel-able car stickers to be stuck on certain cars to promote the benefits of such a technology on their affected areas.

Girly Trinkets!

This is a publication design where I had to make a simple step-by-step guide book. It was a free title. At that moment I was living with a friend who loves to make her own jewelery and accessories at home - she told me it is so that you can own a piece of jewelery that's different and unique from all others which makes it so special. I thought that was pretty smart, so I asked her to teach me - and as she did, I drew illustrations on how to construct the piece. I scanned my illustration, took pictures of the finished work and got hold of some materials and scraps - then compiled it into a guidebook called 'Girly Trinkets' - a book that teaches girls how to make their own jewelery in easy step-by-step guidelines. I've also decided to make the book a lil' special by slotting in materials in it - so that readers can already use the given materials from the book to start constructing their own jewelery.

18 LX Magazine

Credits to: Miss Freak of Nature for the photography on the cover

This is my first publication design. It's more of a proposal of a concept and layout design of a magazine that does not exist in the market yet. I proposed a magazine that reveals 18 lyrics per week and with the help of graphical images - they will create a dimension to bring readers into the journey to discover the true meaning of the lyrics of some commercial music that we listen to that we may not be aware of. Thus it is called 18 LX - short for 18 Lyrics Exposed.

Ths launch issue will be featuring music with dark meanings thus the theme is called "Word of violence" featuring songs such as Korn's Shoots and Ladders which contain the meaning of violence in nursery rhymes.

First Baptist Church & Treasure Cove

This is a corporate identity design on a religious organization. I chose to rebrand the First Baptist Church because I'm most familiar with that church (although I'm a freethinker) - cause it was where I started my very first education (Jack 'n' Jill kindergarten).

This church is well-known for it's sermons, it's not charismatic and modern, but pretty traditional really. But there's one aspect that's really distinctive about First Baptist Church - education. There's a kindergarten built within the church - and there are always campaigns and events to educate people on the gospel, such as the vacation bible school, puppet shows and concerts. The sermon's are very word-based and they really refer alot to the bible.

So in this corporate identity design - I gave it a very word-based and intellectual look. On each corporate stationery, I implemented a typography design on quotes from the bible that somehow relates to the usage of the corporate stationery. This is so that when people receive or use this stationery - they will be reminded of teachings from the bible. Such as "Peace to the brother and sisters from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ" is printed behind a corporate letter to send out the message of piece to the person/party receiving it. And "Through Jesus Christ we are committed to witness, touch and transform lives" on the corporate name card to tell people the vision of the organization. And finally a message to send praises and songs on the complimentary slip.

As for the logo, the concept goes like this: the black figure represents a sinner, whereas the red figure represents someone with the love for Christ. The space in between the logo forms a cross. Thus, portraying the church's vision: "Through Jesus Christ we can transform lives" - from a sinner to a Christian.

And being a church that uses education to spread the words - I've also worked out an event promotional design on a vacation bible school treasure hunting event for the First Baptist Church.

The theme is called 'Treasure Cove' and it's a treasure hunting event whereby throughout the whole journey, primary school kids will learn about the gospel and finally they will discover the true treasure - which is actually Jesus Christ. I created quirky characters and a Piraty feel to the whole promotional package to give it an adventurous and fun outlook.

The promotional items that I proposed include posters, a flyer in the form of a treasure map, a treasure kit, a door gift and finally a roadshow in a theme park.

Get High with Vanilla Sky!

This is a packaging and product design done from scratch. This is not just any packaging design because this time, I have to create an ice-cream brand with it - with the whole package of branding and positioning.

So I created the brand 'Vanilla Sky' for a range of aromatic vanilla ice-cream. These vanilla ice-creams come in three aromatic flavours - green tea, honey and pure vanilla. And the catch is that they are not just healthy but their aromatic flavours also promotes relaxation and calmness - so consuming these products will actually lift your spirits - thus 'Vanilla Sky'.

And I figured to give it a pure vanilla milk look - why not package these ice-creams in milk cartons? And not forgetting giving the whole healthy and pure image to it.

Fun Food, Bar Food and Say No to Obesity!

This is a strategy campaign to fulfill the objective of reducing the cases of obesity in Australia.

I created two strategies for this:
1. To disguise healthy food as junk food
This is to destroy the perception that healthy food are tasteless and boring. And of course, to increase the consumption of health food by making them as fun and interesting as possible.

Promotion strategy:
Brochures and catalogs.

2. To introduce health food as convenient/supermarket food
Society is becoming more and more fast paced, and when this occurs, people will tend to go for food that are fast and easy - fast food. So instead of consuming fast food and unhealthy take-aways, I've came out with a supermarket concept of bar food - in the form of an energy/nutrition bar.

Promotion strategy:
Gigantic posters on the different flavours of bar food at tram stations.

ABM Annual Report 2007

This is a 2007 annual report design for the Association of Banks in Malaysia. I proposed a cover design that contains peep holes which shows glimpses of what the association does. When you flip over the cover page, you will reveal the full version of the images which each features what the association focuses on. The overall design of the annual report matches the client's taste of "simple and elegant".

Through out this design process I got the opportunity to perform client servicing, which includes preparing quotation, presentation of mock-ups and requesting for approvals. In the movie, Lestat (cruise, boy he was young then) created (sorta) Louis (brad pitt) when he drank from his blood (which explains why in this compo they look as if they are merged together). He taught Louis to become a vampire in which Louis didn't really enjoy as his heart was still pretty humane. Due to the lack of humanity in Lestat, I drew him in an over-exposed effect to portray him as a supernatural creature.

Any movie involving vampires usually has lots of blood involved, as they hunger for blood. Thus, explains the blood spreading outwards from them which slowly transform into bats. Why bats? Because they lurk in darkness from one place to another seeking for blood. Like bats they are blind. Blind in the sense of they don't know where to go and their life is pretty much pointless as they live forever in hunger.

The movie involves the relationship between Lestat, Louis and Claudia (the young little vampire girl). Both Lestat and Louis adore Claudia, which is portrayed with the placement of their figures. Both Louis and Lestat are on the top with one Claudia at the bottom. But Claudia loves Louis more, that's why I chose to include a scene of Claudia hugging Louis.

Spiderman 2 Movie Composition Design

This is a pretty typical composition design that I've sketched with pencil on A2 focusing on the hero (Spiderman), featuring the villain (Dr. Octopus), glimpsing on the lover (Mary Jane) and touching on the sidekick.
